๐ŸชCosmos

Cosmos is an ever-expanding ecosystem of interconnected apps and services, built for a decentralized future. The Cosmos network is defined as the โ€œInternet of Blockchainsโ€ (IoB). Cosmos Network is focused on creating a decentralized network that connects blockchains that operate independently of each other. A scalable infrastructure has been developed in which blockchains can interact with each other within the ecosystem. Cosmos Hub, the main chain in the ecosystem, offers a common security layer as well as transferring assets and data between interconnected Zones. The advanced Cosmos Hub structure connects other customizable blockchains known as Zones [34].

The Cosmos network is divided into three different layers: networking, application, and consensus. The three existing layers in turn enable transaction confirmations and other consensus messages to communicate with hub blockchains, updates on new transaction and balance status, and organization of nodes on how to reach consensus on adding new transactions.

The Cosmos network has two components, Tendermint and Inter-Blockchain Communication Protocol (IBCP), for blockchains to interact with each other within the ecosystem. Tendermint combines the networking and consensus layers into a ready-to-use structure. Tendermint (BFT) is popular due to its suitability, high performance, immediate transaction finality and security features. Inter-Blockchain Communication Protocol (IBCP) creates spaces and hubs that share a common architecture and are interconnected but can act independently.

With Cosmos, it is possible to develop new highly customizable blockchain networks. Cosmos SDK, an open source software development tool, also allows users to create customized blockchains. Using the Cosmos SDK greatly simplifies the blockchain development process and provides all the standards you may need when building a blockchain.
